Abstract
1,041,997. Regulating fluid flow. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Dec. 4, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 49361/64. Heading G3H. [Also in Division G4] A fluid pressure pulse applied to a monostable or bi-stable fluid switch controls the movement of a bi-stable fluid switch 12 (Fig. 1). In one embodiment fluid pressure applied to inlets 26b, 30, 52, 54 permits flow through AND gates 20 and 21 and OR gate 14 to channel 46 so that the switch 12 is moved from the OFF position in which the flow is through a channel 38 to the ON position. The application of fluid pressure to channel 54 results in flow along a channel 26c so that the swtich 26 is moved, after a predetermined time, from the position in which flow is along the channel 26d to an OFF position. The switch 12 may be reset by applying signals to the OFF gate and trigger reset passages The switch 12 may also be operated by connecting the passage 14b of the OR gate to a source of fluid pressure. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3 not shown) a monostable switch 20 is replaced by a bi-stable switch 60 controlled so that a fluid pressure pulse is applied to the channel 69 (corresponding to the channel 26d) only when the switch changes from one stable state to the other.
