Abstract

1,065,088. Televizing from moving vehicles; cathode-ray tube circuits. NORD-AVIATION SOCIETE NATIONALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS AERONAUTIQUES. March 24, 1964 [March 28, 1963], No. 12481/64. Headings H4F and H4T. In a television camera mounted in an aircraft with its optical axis aligned with the axis of movement the effects of roll, pitch and yaw movements are nullified by rotating and moving the scanning raster so that the scanned area on the target remains correctly orientated and aligned with respect to the optical image viewed by the camera. In Fig. 3 the pitch and yaw rotations # and # are detected by a gyroscope system 10, translated into voltages by potentiometers 14 and 15 and applied to the vertical and horizontal deflection coils 17 and 16 so as to cause the scanned raster to follow the, movements of the image on the camera target. In Fig. 5 the effect of roll rotation # is allowed for by altering the line and frame scanning deflections Y and Z in accordance with the equations Y=V l cos # – V i sin # and Z = V i cos # + V l sin #, where V l is the normal line scan deflection and V i is the normal frame scan deflection. The multiplying factors are introduced by a pair of Hall cell multipliers 24 which are supplied with the line and frame voltages L and I and are controlled by a magnet 23 which is stabilized vertically by a gyroscope system 20. The two components of voltages Z and Y are added in adders 25 and 28 and applied via amplifiers 26 and 29 to the camera deflection coils 27, 30. Fig. 6 shows an alternative arranged where the scanning raster is of spiral form produced by a sinewave 40 amplitude modulated by a sawtooth wave 41 in a modulator circuit 42. 90 degreesphase-displaced signals are derived from a device 47 and applied to the deflection coils 44 and 45 via amplifiers 46. In accordance with invention the roll angle is detected by gyroscope 43 and is employed to rotate the phase of the signals produced by device 47.
