Abstract

1,090,689. Endless conveyers. HEWITT-ROBINS INTERNATIONAL, S.A. Feb. 17, 1966, No. 6996/66. Heading B8A. A conveyer apparatus for bridging between a mining machine 12 and a fixed endless belt conveyer 10 comprises two or more similar units 32 each supported at one end by steerable driven wheels 76 and supported at the other end by a plate 94 movable relative thereto about a vertical axis and mounted on the wheeled end of an adjacent unit for movement relative thereto about a horizontal axis. The units are connected in cascade formation and the conveyed material is transferred through a shoot 104 in the plate 94. The articulate end of a unit has a pair of depending arms (86), (88) with wheels (90), (92) for engagement with arcuate slots (106), (108) in the plate (94), which plate has a pair of depending lugs 114, (116) for rotation about the spindle (118) of an end roller (46) of the adjacent unit. The end supported by the wheels 76 has a pair of depending arms 52 interconnected by transverse beams (54), (56) with aligned holes (58) therein for pegs (60), which pegs extend through slots (68), (70) in a lower framework 62, 64, 66. A central peg 67 extends through both frameworks (54), (56), 64, 66 and acts as a pivot for relative movement between the frameworks and the wheels about a horizontal axis parallel to the conveyer units. The lower framework (62), (64), (66) carries a pair of rubber wheels 76 pivoted about the vertical axis in relation to the lower framework about a pin 82 and movable by a double-acting hydraulic ram 84 attached to the unit 32. The inby and outby ends of the bridging apparatus are mounted on similarly suspended wheels. The drive means (50) for the conveyer belts (44) and the drive means 78 and steering means 84 for the wheels 76 are controlled from a central panel 142. The fixed conveyer 19 is of the rope side frame type and may be extended in the longitudinal direction by the addition of one or more sections 24 to the end of the conveyer. Each section 24 comprises side frames interconnected by troughing and return rollers (20), (22) and is mounted on supports (30). After a number of such sections (24) have been added to the fixed conveyer they are removed and the conveyer itself extended.
