Abstract
1,094,814. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. AUTOMOBILOVE ZAVODY LETNANY NARODNI PODNIK. April 6, 1965, No.14532/65. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F1] One of the cylinders of a multi-cylinder engine is arranged to function as a compressor cylinder by the manual or automatic operation of a valve 37 controlling a by-pass valve 29 in the fuel supply to the cylinder and a valve 5 in the compressed air delivery channel 4. The automatic operation of the valve 37 is dependent upon the pressure of air in a reservoir supplied by the cylinder during periods operation as a compressor. To operate the cylinder as an engine, compressed air from the reservoir is directed by the valve 37 into pipes 22a, 22b. The air in pipe 22b acts on a diaphragm 34 to close the by-pass valve 29 whereby fuel supplied by an injection pump 23 flows to an injection nozzle 25 instead of to a by-pass passage 28b. The air in the pipe 22a flows to the underside of a piston 6 to cause the valve 5 to close the delivery channel 4. If the pressure in the reservoir falls the valve 37 operates to connect the pipes 22a, 22b to atmosphere so that the valves 5, 29 are opened by springs 7, 32 and-air is drawn into the cylinder through an air pipe 14 and is exhausted through a pipe 15 leading to a cooler 17 connected to the reservoir.
