Abstract

1,102,306. Microphones; windshields. AKUSTISCHE U. KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. 5 April, 1966 [23 April, 1965], No. 15004/66. Heading H4J. A protective cover 5 for a microphone comprises an air – permeable wall portion consisting of sintered particles having three mutually perpendicular dimensions of the same order of magnitude, i.e. they do not vary by more than a factor of ten. The particles may be of spherical thermoplastic material or may be spherical bronze particles 0À7 mm. to 1À00 m.m. in diameter. The air-permeable wall portion has a thickness of about twice the major diameter of the particles. The cover 5 may have rounded junctions, or may be hemispherical or flat. It may be anodized, electroplated or made of coloured sintered plastics material. Such a sintered cover provides non-linear air passages and blind corners where impurities are trapped. The cover is useful for protecting electrodynamic transducer systems against ingress of iron particles into the working gap and also acts as a windshield.
