Abstract

1,128,305. Dyeing polyesters. MONSANTO CO. 11 Feb., 1966 [15 Feb., 1965], No. 6213/66. Heading D1B. A process for producing dyed filaments having improved dyelightfastness, said filaments being derived from modified polyesters obtained by reacting together at least one compound selected from terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid and dialkyl esters of said acids, and a polymethylene glycol containing from 2-10 carbon atoms with from 0.05 to 4.0 mo] percent, based on the weight of the first named compound, of a compound selected from monohydric polyalkylene oxides having the formula in which R is selected from alkyl groups having 1-4 carbon atoms, m and n are integers from 1-4 and x is an integer in the range 1-100 and with from 0.05 to 2.4 mol percent based on the weight of the first named compound and compounds having the formula R1-(OH) n ‘ in which R1 is a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing 3-6 carbon atoms and n1 is an integer of from 3-6 characterised by dyeing said filaments and heating said dyed filaments to a temperature of from 130C-175C for a period of 5-25 minutes.
