Abstract
1,138,041. Rotary pumps. L. A. M. PHELAN. Jan.31, 1967 [Feb. 1, 1966], No.4674/67. Heading F1F. [Also in Divisions B1 and F4] A mixing gear pump (see also Figs. 4, 6 and 7 not shown) comprises a driving gear 34 and a driven gear 35 journalled by their teeth in the pump chambers 36, 37. Air is drawn through the passage 41 in the gear casing into an annular chamber surrounding the driving shaft of gear 34, is transferred into a cylindrical cavity 34a in the gear face by a passage 42 through the gear, and thence to the gear teeth by a recessed channel 45 in the pump end plate. Liquid is sucked in and supplied to the teeth of gear 35 by channel 43 and arcuate channel 44 both of which are also recessed in the end plate. The air and liquid are brought into contact and discharged together through passage 46 in the pump end plate and a ball valve (47, Fig. 4 not shown). The internal corners of the pump chamber are rounded off, see Fig. 7 (not shown). The upper gear, 34 has one less tooth than the lower gear 35.
