Abstract

1,147,024. Winding fabric webs. D. DUPUIS & CO. 12 April, 1966 [8 April, 1965], No. 16025/66. Heading B6B. [Also in Division D1] Prior to subjecting a textile web to a steaming process, the textile web (50, Fig. 1), is fed between the turns of a jute carrier web 21 hung in a spiral fashion on a rotatable support 1 having radially extending arms 2 which are provided with hooks (not illustrated) on their lower sides. A straight edge turning bar 23, inclined to the axis of rotation of the support 1, has its upper end positioned near the hooks on the radial arms, and is arranged to position the upper edge of the carrier web 21 on to the hooks. A carriage 13, which with its wheels 14, 15 and 16 can run on rails (17, 18 and 19) is provided with a superstructure 20, in which a web roll of jute 21 is rotatably suspended. The superstructure 20 also accommodates a shaft 22, to which the straight edge 23 and an arm 24 are fixed. The carriage 13 is moved by a screw spindle 25, on which is provided a nut 26 connected with the carriage 13. The spindle 25 is driven by the support 1 via gears and a chain transmission 27-30. A smooth bore sleeve 35, Fig. 4 is keyed to the spindle 25, and a lever 38 with rollers 39 and 40 at its extremities is pivoted at 37 to a bracket 36 on the sleeve 35. A ring 42, to which a cable 45 is connected, is rotatably mounted on the nut 26. A cam 46 on the ring 42 co-operates with the roller 40, and a cam 47 fixed to the carriage 13 co-operates with the roller 39. As the spindle 25 rotates, the sleeve 35 rotates therewith, whereby the roller 39 clears the cam 47 so that the lever 38 is tipped by the compression spring 41 and the roller 40 engages the cam 46. The ring 42 thereby rotates with the sleeve 35, and the cable 45 is wound on to the ring 42. The other end of the cable 45 is attached to the arm 24, whereby the straight edge 23 carries out a hingeing movement, which is opposite to the displacement of the carriage 13, and the foremost edge of the straight edge 23 is not displaced with respect to the support 1. When the roller 39 next comes into contact with the cam 47, the roller 40 is released from the cam 46, whereby the ring 42 and the cable 45 are released so that the arm 24 and the straight edge 23 suddenly move back to their starting positions under the influence of a spring (not illustrated). The foremost edge of the straight edge 23 thereby shifts a distance which is equal to the spacing of two consecutive hooks on an arm 2. The textile web-roll (50, Fig. 1) is mounted on a support (57) on the carriage 13. A roller 51 rotatably mounted in the superstructure 20 and an extension 52 thereof, is vertically positioned for guiding the textile web 50. One of a pair of nip rollers 53 engaging the jute web 21 is connected with the roller 51 by a pulley transmission 54. In this manner, the roller 51 conveys the textile web 50 towards the support 1 with a slight excess, so that the textile web arrives free from any tension between the turns of the jute web on the support.
