Abstract

1,147,623. Measuring fluid-flow. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 27, 1966 [May 28, 1965], No.24009/66. Heading G1R. [Also in Divisions F1 and G6] A jet pump comprises an elongate hollow body having inlet and discharge openings at opposite ends, a nozzle 27, Fig.2 adjacent the inlet opening and arranged to direct a jet of fluid into the inlet opening, the hollow body including an elongate mixing chamber 42 connected to the inlet opening 40 and a diffuser 44 and means for sensing pressure of fluid within the hollow body. Pressure taps 46, 49 are connected to each side of a differential pressure gauge 48 which gives an indication of fluid-flow. A recorder 51 may provide a permanent record. Alternative positions of the pressure taps are shown at 54, 58, 60, 64, 66, 70. The differential pressure gauge may be a Bourdon tube type, a manometer or a mechanical or electromechanical differential pressure transducer. The jet pump may be used in a nuclear reactor (see Division G6).
