Abstract

1,155,435. Receiving plate for the silver salt diffusion transfer process. HORIZONS Inc. Sept.6, 1966 [Sept.7, 1965], No.39800/66. Heading G2C. In the silver salt diffusion transfer process the receptor sheet is an anodized aluminium surface free from any traces of sulphate and the image formed on the receptor sheet is sealed into the surface by boiling in a solution containing nickel acetate, cobalt acetate and boric acid or heating in hot water. The aluminium surface is anodized by (i) anodizing in dilute sulphuric acid and treating the anodized surface with oxalic acid (ii) anodizing in oxalic acid solution containing alkali metal oxalate e.g. an alkali metal double oxalate of Ti, Zr or T1 with or without niobium or tantalum hydrogen oxalate. The aluminium receptor sheet may be an alloy with Ag, Au, Pd, Pt, Ti, Zr, Nb Ta or Th. The anodized surface may be heated to 100C. The aluminium sheet may be nucleated with a solution of a water soluble Ag, Au, Pt or Pd salt followed by treatment with a reducing agent. The aluminium plate and the exposed emulsion may be hinged together with tape. The image may be toned before sealing.
