Abstract
1,160,386. Tubular drying filter. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd. 17 Jan., 1967, No. 2493/67. Heading B1L [Also in Division E1] An air-drying filter constructed to function as a breather device to retain the air in the space between the panes of a double glazing unit (Division E1-E2) dry and at external pressure comprises a tubular container 1 with the upper end (not shown) connected to the space and at the lower end is open to the external atmosphere through a series of holes 4, there being also a grid 3 attached transversely of the container and a funnel type member 6 to support granules of hygroscopic substance (Calcium Chloride) between the upper end of the filter and plate 3. The container 1 has an extension 7 closed at its lower end and sealed to the container and forms a stop 8 to oppose shoulders 10 formed by a square nut on a sleeve 9 of which is long enough to cover the holes 4. The sleeve 9 has a pin 21 at its closed end to position the filter on a supporting bracket 17 secured to an element 15, the upper end of the filter being secured by an embracing curved spring attached to element 15.
