Abstract
1,199,896. Carrying liquefied gases. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. 10 June, 1969 [5 July, 1968], No. 29196/69. Heading B7A. [Also in Division F4] At least some of the side, top and bottom walls of a rigid self-supporting flat-walled liquefied natural gas storage tank in a ship comprise inner and outer spaced sheets 6, 9, 7, 16, 8, 13 reinforced by metal struts 11; one of the sheets of each wall being perforated and the other liquid-tight, and the latter being the inner sheet over some areas of the walls and the outer sheet over other areas and being in liquid-tight connection at 14 with the imperforate area of an adjacent wall. As shown, the inner imperforate sheet 8 of the tank bottom extends part-way up the tank sides and is connected at 14 to the outer imperforate side wall sheets 9 which are in turn connected to the imperforate inner top wall sheet 7. Thus the outer, bottom and top walls 13, 16 and the inner side walls 6 are perforated at 12, 17. The outer bottom and side walls 13, 9 are spaced by wood blocks 3 from the hull 2 of the ship with intervening heat insulation material 4.
