Abstract
1,222,322. Ascorbic acid. POLITECHNIKA SLASKA IM. W. PSTROWSKIEGO GLIWICE. 3 Feb., 1969 [23 Nov., 1968; 1 Feb., 1968 (2)], No. 5595/69. Heading C2V. Ascorbic acid is obtained by heating with a cation exchange resin a solution of a 2 – ketohexonic acid, an ester thereof or an acetal or ketonacetal derivative thereof. In examples ascorbic acid is obtained by heating diacetone- 2 – keto – 1 – gulonic acid in water and in ethyl alcohol and 2 – keto – 1 – gulonic acid in tert. butyl alcohol and in dioxane, the solutions being in contact with cation exchange resins.
