1,223,651. 1 – Formyl – 3 – nitro – azacycloalkan – 2 – ones. AGRIPAT S.A. 21 Jan., 1969 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 3355/69. Heading C2C. Novel 1 – formyl – 3 – nitro – azacycloalkan- 2-ones of Formula (I) in which A represents an alkylene radical, unsubstituted or substituted by one or more C 1-6 alkyl groups, having 4 to 10 carbon atoms in the chain, are prepared by reacting an azacycloalkanone of Formula (II) with a formylating agent consisting of an N-disubstituted formamide and an acid halogenating agent, in the presence of an organic aprotic solvent and/or diluent and nitrating the complex thus obtained at a temperature of from – 10 to + 30 C. and then hydrolysing it at a temperature below + 30 C. 3 – Benzylamino – azacycloheptan – 2 – one is prepared by saponifying 1-formyl-3-nitro-azacycloheptan-2-one to form 3-nitro-azacyclohepta-2-one, hydrogenating this to form 3- aminon – azacycloheptan – 2 – one and reacting this with benzaldehyde in the presence of hydrogen and Raney nickel.
