Abstract

1,223,702. Electrophotographic material. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 14 March, 1968 [20 March, 1968], No. 12469/68. Heading HlK. An electrophotographic material comprises a conductive support or a supported conductive layer bearing at least one photoconductive layer comprising a binder and 10 to 60 wt. per cent of an imide photoconductor of specified formula. The specific embodiments use phthalimides, succinimides, maleimides, dicarboximides, a maleimide-styrene copolymer, a maleimideethylene copolymer, napthalimides and a dibenzoyl diphenylenediamine as photoconductors. The photoconductors are mixed with a polyester and a sensitizer such as Crystal violet, Rhodamine B, 2,4,7-trinitrofluorenone or a pyrylium or thiapyrylium perchlorate or fluoroborate and coated on Al, Zn, Cu or brass plates or foils, a galvanized plate, vapour deposited Al, paper or Al-paper laminate. Multiple photoconductive layers having intermediate insulating layers may be made. The exposed or coated face of the photoconductor may be coated with a conductive layer.
