Abstract
1,223,804. Chloroprene and dichlorobutenes. DENKI KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 20 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968 (2)], No. 25614/69. Heading C2C. Chloroprene, 1,3 – dichloro – butene – 2,1,2- dichloro – butene – 2 and 2,3 – dichloro – butene- 1 are produced by reaction of 2-chlorobutene-2 with hydrogen chloride and oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas at elevated temperature in the presence of a cupric chloride catalyst. The catalyst may also contain a chloride of an alkali metal, e.g. potassium, an alkaline earth metal, e.g. magnesium, calcium, barium or strontium, aluminium, tin, cobalt, manganese, iron, chromium or a lanthanide, e.g. lanthanum, cerium or samarium. Catalyst supports specified are pumice, α-alumina, diatomaceous earth, ceramics and brick dust. Temperatures of 250‹ to 550‹ C. and contact times of 0À5 to 30 seconds are specified.
