Abstract
1,226,641. Printed metal and wood laminates. SOC. NOVACEL. 6 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 10998/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B2 and B6] A sheet or film of material adapted to be laminated by a pressure sensitive adhesive of low adhesion to rolled or polished metal or lacquered or varnished wood is printed with lines, symbols or designs arranged to indicate the direction of finishing of the wood or metal. In one example a rubber-impregnated paper sheet is coated on one side with a pressure sensitive adhesive and is printed on the other side with spaced alternate red and blue lines by felt-tipped pens impregnated with marking fluid and mounted on a feed roller of a known coating machine. The coated and printed paper sheet is then stuck to a stainless steel sheet. The material may be printed while in the form of a travelling film &c. of paper, or of cellulose or other plastics film material such as unplasticized polyvinyl chloride. An anchoring coating may be applied between the adhesive and the film and a non- adhesive coating may be applied to the other side of the film to facilitate unrolling. If the film is transparent the printing may be applied to the side of the film to which the pressure sensitive adhesive is to be applied before or after the application of the anchoring coating or after the application of the adhesive coat.
