Abstract
1,237,617. Filters. RCA. CORPORATION. 29 Aug., 1969 [6 Sept., 1968], No. 43059/69. Heading H1W. A notch filter for use in the MHz and GHz ranges comprises transmission lines which intersect in the vicinity of a gyromagnetic element. As shown, strip lines 16, 32, which share a common ground plane, pass respectively above and below a spherical element 36, of e.g. YIG, which is magnetically polarized in a direction normal to the plane of the strip lines. Line 16 is provided with signal terminals 24, 26 and line 32 with dissipative terminations 33. Both lines are narrowed in the vicinity of the gyromagnetic element in order to concentrate the electric field. They may be insulated from the element. Energy in a narrow band of frequencies, dependent upon the magnetic field and the size of the element, is coupled to the dissipative terminations 33. The element 36 and the cross-over are accommodated in a circular depression 14 in a dielectric slab 10. Alternatively, they may be accommodated in a hole provided in a further slab positioned above the slab 10.
