Abstract
1,243,544. Centrifugal blowers. E.-F. ENGELBRECHT-SCHNUR and K.-H. LEMMERBROCK. Nov.25, 1968 [Nov.24, 1967], No.55889/68. Heading F1C. [Also in Division B2] In a blower having an impeller 2 arranged within an angularly-adjustable casing having an inlet 12 and a tangential outlet (not shown), the casing carries fixed cutting blades 14 which co-operate with a rotary cruciform cutting member 10. The blades 14 are connected to an annular rib 13, 13a which strengthens the casing end-wall. Similarly, the casing end-wall 8 is strengthened by an annular rib. An inlet sleeve 15 is secured, as by welding, to the rib 13, 13a, and an inlet stub 20 or elbow is secured to the sleeve 15 by an apertured tab 21 and co-operating pin 23 and by a hooked lever and staple mechanism 24, 25, 26. The casing is rotably supported via its end-wall 8 by a bearing housing 4 and legs 3, and via its sleeve 15 by an annular strap 17 and legs 16. The casing is clamped in its angularly adjusted position by tightening the strap 17 around the sleeve 15 by drawing the ends of the strap together via a mechanism similar to the mechanism 24, 25, 26. It is stated to be known for a blower to have an angularly adjustable casing with the end-wall opposite the inlet being externally convex and reinforced by a concave portion, and with the endwall containing the inlet being reinforced by a cast ring to which the fixed cutting blades are secured.
