Abstract
1,249,789. Making composite foil. CERBERUS A.G. 26 March, 1970 [28 March, 1969], No. 14928/70. Heading B3A. [Also in Division G6] In order to seal the edges of a cut portion of radioactive foil having on each face a protective layer including a noble metal, the foil portion is heated for at least 10 minutes to at least 60% of the absolute temperature of the melting point of the noble metal. A portion of a foil comprising americium oxide embedded in gold and covered with thin layers of gold and silver is heated to at least 600‹ C. for at least 30 minutes. The cut edges may be cleaned chemically or ultrasonically before or after the heat treatment.
