Abstract
1,251,973. Foam laminates. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 26320/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B2] A building board comprises a layer of foamed polyurethane or cyclic-ether formed by in situ reaction and foaming on a facing panel which is coated on both faces with a polyolefin or a poly(halo olefin); external coatings of polyolefin being subjected to adhesion-improving treatment, e.g. by corona discharge or ozone treatment to enable application of building finishes based on chalk or stucco. The foamed layer can also be primed between two facing panels, at least one being coated internally and externally as above. Untreated polyolefin may be used to coat the other external face. The facing panels may be paper, paperboard, papercovered plasterboard, wood, plywood, asbestos cement, hardboard, fibreboard, metal, asbestos paper or sheets, or plastics. The coatings may be polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride or polyvinylidene chloride and may be applied by extrusion coating or pressure forming.
