In an acoustical direction finding device formed of transducers 10, 12, forming a planar array, the spread of the pressure distribution curve 14, 16 is dependent on the angle of incidence of the received beam. Scarring the array along the path 18, at a fixed frequency, produces a signal, the frequency of which is a function of the angle of incidence.
