Abstract

1,268,666. Photographic materials. SCOTT GRAPHICS, Inc. March 26, 1969 [March 27, 1968], No. 15931/69. Heading G2C. A two-component diazotype material comprises a transparentized paper support, an inter-coating formed thereon by drying an aqueous emulsion of butadiene polymer, styrene/butadiene copolymer, acrylonitrile/styrene/butadiene terpolymer, a polyketene-modified wax, a polyolefin, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylidene chloride or an acrylic resin, this coating being overcoated with a twocomponent diazotype material; the intercoating permitting removal of at least the diazotype layer without disturbing the support. Toothing agents such as calcium or magnesium carbonate, zinc, aluminium, silicon or titanium dioxide, barium sulphate, magnesium silicate or diatomaceous earth may be added to the support, interlayer or diazotype layer. In the examples a transparentized paper support is coated with an aqueous emulsion of a styrene/butadiene copolymer, polybutadiene, a polyketene modified wax, an acrylonitrile/ styrene/butadiene terpolymer, a polyolefin, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylidene chloride or an acrylic polymer, and overcoated with a 2-component diazotype layer containing an acrylic resin and ethylcellulose and optionally silica or diatomaceous earth. The material is imagewise exposed and developed and the dye image produced may be erased with a rubber or be added to with pen or pencil especially if a toothing agent is present in the diazotype layer.
