1286138 Axminster carpeting THOMSON SHEPHERD & CO Ltd 2 Dec 1969 58863/69 Headings DIE and D1K Plain or patterned Axminster carpet, with at least two heights of pile, is woven on a loom comprising a yarn gripper and a movable yarn carriage both of whose movement may be increased in alternate pile forming picks to produce a higher pile than is formed in the other pile forming picks. A follower G on lever H engages a cam F on a shaft driven at one sixth loom speed. Lever H is connected by rod I to lever J1 fixed to a shaft K1 carrying plates L1, L2. Plate L1 is connected by rod M to plate 3 which with plate L4 and a lever J2 is fixed to rod K2. Yarn carriage N carries pairs of long and short stops P1, P2; P3, P4; P5, P6; P7, P8 and the long stops are either aligned with apertures R4, R3, R2, Rl in plates L4, L3, L2, L1, so that the relative movement is limited by the short stops or the long stops engage the plates which reduces the movement of the yarn carrier.
