Abstract
1286140 Clhorine-containing thiophosphorus esters and intermediates therefor BOEHBINGER INGELHEIM GmbH 22 Dec 1969 [20 Dec 1968] 62393/69 Headings C2C and C2P The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R 1 and R 3 which may be the same or different are C 1 -C 3 alkyl groups, R 2 is a C 1 -C 3 alkyl or alkoxy group, and X is O, S or -S(O)-. They may be obtained by reacting where Q is Cl or Br with The reaction is suitably effected in an acid binding agent or the phenol (III) may be used in the form of an alkali metal salt or organic base salt. The reaction is preferably effected in water or an organic solvent, e.g. at 30 to 70 C. The phenolic compounds (III) are stated to be novel and may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula with a methanolic NaOH solution. Compounds (III) in which X is -S(O)- may also be obtained by oxidation, e.g. with H 2 O 2 in glacial acetic acid of the corresponding compounds in which X is a sulphur atom. The compounds of Formula IV may be obtained by reacting the correspondingly substituted tetrachlorobenzene with either (a) an alkali metal salt of HS.CH 2 CH 2 XR 3 or (b) the sodium salt of thioglycol to give and then converting the latter to (IV) by conventional methods. The products (I) have insecticidal and acaricidal properties and they may be mixed with a carrier or diluent e.g. to provide an emulsion, suspension, wettable powder or dusting powder.
