Abstract
1286491 Fruit juice extractors GUGELOT DESIGN GmbH 11 Sept 1969 [13 Sept 1968 23 Dec 1968] 44852/69 Heading A4C [Also in Division F1] A press for separating liquids from liquidcontaining solids, particularly fruits, comprises a machine of the trochoidal type having an eccentrically rotating piston 2 defining with a casing 1 working chambers which vary in volume as the piston rotates, material being charged into a working chamber at an inlet 4 and pressed between the piston and casing to force expressed liquid to an outlet 8 and solid residue to an outlet 9. The piston 2 is driven via an internal eccentric gearing 3 and has a trihedral section. Fruit is introduced through the inlet 4 via a hopper 5 within which is a macerating roller 13 rotating opposite a wall having teeth 14. Piston 2 only rotates when a hopper cover 6 is in place and after roller 13 ceases rotation, juice being pressed through a perforated lower casing wall port into a collecting chamber 7, the fruit residue passing through outlet 9 with the assistance of a spring loaded stripper 10. Trailing edge regions of the piston faces may be recessed relative to the trailing edges to form abutment faces (25), Fig. 1a, (not shown) for sweeping the fruit around the casing, the faces (25) having seals fixed therein of plastics material. Each piston working face may have a different configuration so forming three different capacity working chambers, the required one of which may be automatically selected by electromechanical or mechanical means which move piston 2 to the appropriate initial angular position. The spacing of roller 13 from the teeth 14 may be varied automatically and arranged to depend on the capacity of the chosen working chamber.
