NEthyl – 2 – formyl – N – (γ – picolyl)phenyl acetamide is prepared by formylating N-ethyl- N-(γ-picolyl)phenylacetamide, resulting from the reaction between phenylacetyl chloride and N-ethyi-γ-picolylamine, obtained by reductive amination of pyridine-4-aldehyde
