Abstract
1289459 Lubricating WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 20369/71 Heading F2A [Also in Division F1] A lubrication system, e.g. for a turbo-generator unit 11 has a lubricant reservoir 30 and pumping means with its inlet disposed in the reservoir and its outlet connected to supply conduits 33 for the unit, there being a guard conduit surrounding at least part of at least some of the supply conduits, the guard conduit being in communication with the interior of the reservoir so as to permit any lubricant in the guard conduit to drain into the reservoir. The conduits and pumping means are attached to the surface of a plate 103 which is secured to the reservoir and covers an opening in the reservoir so as to facilitate assembly of the system. The lubricant reservoir may comprise a concrete channel splined with a material 91 impervious to the lubricant, e.g. an epoxy resin or a metal, which may be sprayed on to the concrete surface. The lubricating system has an oil pump 55 and an emergency back up pump 56, which feed oil to the supply conduits. The oil returns to the reservoir through conduits 64 which may also be contained in the guard conduit. The oil may be circulated from the reservoir through oil coolers 41.
