Abstract
1294571 Ink ribbon mechanisms BURROUGHS CORP 1 May 1970 21168/70 Heading B6F Ink ribbon feed mechanism comprises a pair of spools 1 each having a ratchet 7 engageable by a pawl 8 for feeding the ribbon 4 on to the take-up spool, the linear rate of feed of the ribbon being maintained substantially constant despite the changing diameter of ribbon on the take-up spool by a feeler 17 engaging the periphery of the ribbon on the spool and having a projection 16 engaging the pawl 8 and controlling the period of engagement between the pawl 8 and its ratchet 7. The pawls 8 are reciprocated by a lever 11 acting on a bellcrank lever 13. When a take-up spool is full, the feeler 17 acts to pivot a Y-shaped lever 9 over-centre to reverse the direction of ribbon feed.
