Abstract
1294675 Gas Turbines KONGSBERG VAPENFABRIKK AS 17 Dec 1969 [17 Dec 1968] 61557/69 Heading FIT In a gas turbine unit an annular heat shield consisting of segments 13 is disposed between the rotors of a radial outward flow compressor 1 and an inward flow turbine 3 arranged back to back. Each segment 13 has a flange 16 at its outer periphery which is secured by a bolt 29 to a fixed annular structure 10. The latter also carries spaced bolts 23 which are loaded by springs 28 and have heads 25 engaging in recesses 24 in the inner periphery of the segments 13 so as to locate the segments axially but with freedom for radial inwards expansion. The gaps 17 between adjacent segments 13 are sealed by thin radial strips 27 mounted in grooves 26, the strips 27 preventing leakage of hot turbine gases into the annular stagnent zone 14 between the heat shield and structure 10.
