Abstract
1300379 Crimping yarns SOC RHODIACETA 23 July 1970 [24 July 1969] 35793/70 Heading D1F Thermoplastic e.g. nylon, yarn is textured to impart resilience or elasticity thereto by feeding the yarn continuously into a constricted space with the aid of a compressed fluid heated to a temperature permitting setting of the yarn, allowing a portion of the fluid to escape laterally from the space, at least a part escaping to a zone at a controlled pressure lower than e.g. less than half, the feed pressure and above atmospheric pressure and allowing the thus textured yarn to leave the space. In the apparatus shown, yarn 1, introduced into the passage 2 of a nozzle 3 into which saturated steam is injected through a tube 4, passes through a tubular chamber 5 having orifices 6 through which the steam escapes into a housing 7 maintained at the lower pressure by a regulator 8. Yarn textured by a stuffer action leaves the chamber at a speed controlled by driven roller 9 and cooperating roller 10. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) yarn leaving chamber 5 is guided by an extension thereof which also comprises laterally directed orifices.
