Abstract

1300651 Structural component for roofs and walls A KOLOZSVARY 7 Jan 1970 [8 Jan 1969] 775/70 Addition to 1215321 Heading E1W A structural component comprising a quadrilateral plate folded along a diagonal 41f, Fig. 27, has similar triangular portions which lie in planes equally inclined to a plane of symmetry including the fold line, the geometry of the component being such that if the fold line is considered as a chord of a circle 47d contained by the plane of symmetry, which chord subtends an angle of not more than 90 at the circle centre, if the circumference of the circle includes a reference point J which falls on a straight line 2R passing through the centre of the circle and the centre of the chord, and if four reference planes are considered each containing the reference point and one edge of the component, then connecting surface means along each edge of the component, according to either one of two embodiments, is provided in a specified relationshifp to the asosciated reference plane. According to one embodiment exemplified in Fig. 15 or 16, the connecting surface means is co-planar with the reference plane Y-Y. In Fig. 15 the adjacent components 66 are in identical fold positions whilst in Fig. 16 the same two components are in reversed fold position relative to each other. According to the other embodiment, exemplified in Fig. 21, which shows adjacent components 94 in identical relative fold positions, the connecting surface means 96 each has a plane of symmetry X-X which is perpendicular to the associated reference plane YY. Fig. 22 shows the components 94 in reversed fold positions in relation to each other. The Specification discloses a number of alternative edge constructions of panels in which the connecting surface means accords with one or other of the two embodiments, A number of alternative arrangements for mechanically connecting adjacent panels, e.g. by clamping or nailing, are disclosed. An assembly of components may be reinforced by stiffeners 87, Fig. 19 extending transversely of the component fold lines and secured to the free corners of the components triangular portions. The loadbearing capabilities of flat structural assemblies can be increased by cables 112, Fig. 31 tensioned after assembly of the structure.
