Abstract
1307043 Pipe couplings K BRAUN 19 April 1971 [23 Jan 1970] 20319/71 Heading F2G Two flanged pipe ends, wherein a collar 9 on one pipe end extends over the flange 16 of the other pipe end, are coupled together and electrically insulated from one another by an insulating ring 3 having a widened inner margin 14 located in recesses in the flanges 15, 16 and an outer margin axially extending over the flange 16 of the other pipe end and engaging with an insulating bush 4, which has an axial extension and is pressed against the flange 16 by a pressing ring, 6 or 10, located in the collar. The pressure ring is either screwed into the collar 9 as 6, Fig. 4, or is of spring steel and comprises radial teeth which bite into collar 9 as 10, Fig. 2; the ring is covered by an insulating ring 7 which may be L-shaped with one limb extending over the end of the collar 9. The insulating ring 3 has grooves with sealing rings, and, to avoid relative rotation of the flanges 15, 16 and ring 3, the ring has circumferentially spaced semicircular projections 19 located in recesses in the flanges or the ring has similar semicircular recesses accepting discs 8 which also locate in flange recesses. Additionally, a pin may extend radially through the collar 9 into the ring 3. The collar 9 and flange 15 may be integral. The insulating rings 3, 7 and bush 4 are of injection moulded plastics, e.g. nylon.
