Abstract
1324206 Making balloon confining devices AKZO NV 19 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 39023/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division D1] A method of manufacturing balloon confining devices for textile spindles comprises the following treatments at least to the surface contacting a thread:- 1. grinding and pre-polishing; 2. uniformly roughening to a roughness (C.L.A) of at least 10 ru; 3. electrolytically applying a chromium layer; 4. uniformly after-polishing to a coeficient of friction between 0À15 and 0À65. (The meaning of «coefficient of friction» is defined in the context). Steps 2 and 3 above may be transposed. Roughness values for the polishing stages are given together with results of tests on such devices. The devices may comprise lengths of steel tube with radiused edges and the devices may be set at an angle to a plane perpendicular to a spindle axis.
