Abstract
1324640 Toasting machine, Vending machine WINGATES AUTOMATIC FOOD MACHINES Ltd 19 April 1971 [27 Dec 1969] 63161/69 Headings A4D, A4T [Also in Division G4] A toasted sandwich vending machine has one or more cylindrically shaped drums 12 holding the sandwiches 20 in compartments 18 formed by the radial walls 16, and means to transfer the sandwiches to a heating means where they are toasted before being discharged from the machine. The machine is activated by a coin freed mechanism (not shown). The infra-red heating elements 32 are energized and the drum 12 is rotated anti-clockwise around its horizontal axis (as viewed in Fig.2) so that the sandwich 20a falls through shoot 24 and into the oven 26. Grids 34 prevent the sandwich coming into contact with the heating elements 32. When the sandwich has been toasted a timing device actuates the solenoid catch 37 and switches off the heater. The weight of the sandwich opens the flap 36 and the sandwich falls into shoot 38 which guides it to a dispensing drawer. The flap 36 is returned to its closed position by the counterweight 39. Several units may be mounted in the same cabinet and each drum may contain sandwiches with a different filling. The sandwiches are wrapped in foil 21 and prevented from falling from the downwardly facing compartments by a shield 22. The axis of the drum may be vertical. In this case sandwiches will be fed to the oven through an aperture in the base of the drum. Several such drums can be mounted on the same axis and sandwiches from the upper drums are delivered to a single oven through empty compartments in the lower drums.
