Abstract
1332517 Electric immersion heaters B RAGAULT 15 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 2015/71 Heading H5N [Also in Division H2] An immersion heater comprises a heating coil 1, having non-heating end conductors 26 and 28, said coil being supported on a hairpin bent plastics insulated wire rod 5, whose ends 25, 27 extend through an appertured plastics plug 8 along with end conductors 26, 28 and are potted, e.g. in a resin polymerizing in the cold state &c., in a plastics tube 9. An elbow 12 and further tube 13 may carry the conductors to a power connection. Alternatively the connection may be formed within a sealed tube 14, Fig. 4, which is directly attached to tube 9 or in place of tube 13. The heater element may be surrounded by a protective spirally apertured tube held spaced therefrom by the arms of support rods. A further support member may comprise the return conductor 26, the coils being secured to the support members by tying with thread or wire. The coil is set up on a grooved mandrel. A three-phase arrangement is described which is self supporting on its return conductors. Types of materials and dimensions of the components are described in the Specification.
