Abstract
1339286 Mixing materials in proportions NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 17 June 1971 [17 June 1970] 29302/70 Addition to 1284535 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8] Hoppers (11), 12, (13) for a main material and at least one additive are each discharged by a pair of neoprene metering rolls 14, 15 into a common collecting hopper 16. The additive hoppers 12, (13) each have an inclined wall 33 providing a passage 36 to the rolls 14, 15 the length of nip, and consequently the capacity, of which is controllable by means of a vertical shutter 38 the lower edge of which conforms to the shape of the rolls and which is adjustable axially thereof by a screw and handwheel 40a, 42. A motor 23 drives through a belt 25 a reduction gearbox 28 and shaft 62 carrying one of the rolls of hopper (11). The rolls of hopper 12 are driven therefrom by chain reduction gearing 60, 57, and those of hopper (13) by further chain reduction gearing 54, 29, the chain wheels 51, 52 being freely rotatable on shaft 62. The chain wheels may be exchangeable to give different feed rate ranges.
