1346555 Weapons MESSERSCHMITTBOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 27 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 14277/72 Heading F3C [Also in Division F2E] A braking device for a free piston 4 in a cylinder 1 and provided with a concave recess 8, comprises a sleeve 3 retained in the cylinder by a collar 2 and having a chamfer 5 to form a wedgeshaped recess 6 and fracturing or deformation points such as bores, notches or slots 9. When the piston is driven towards the sleeve the recess receives the skirt of the piston and is plastically deformed to brake the piston.
