1346591 I C engine exhaust systems L GARDNER & SONS Ltd 19 April 1971 [18 April 1970 6 May 1970] 18639/70 and 21813/70 Heading F1B In a multi-cylinder four stroke engine an exhaust system comprises exhaust manifolds 13, Fig.1 connecting pairs of exhaust ports, the exhaust periods of which do not overlap, a duct 11 connecting each exhaust manifold to a common exhaust duct at the bottom of the engine and a silencer connected to the common exhaust duct. The individual ducts 11 join a duct 14 which is connected to the engine by a resilient spherical mounting device 10, Fig.4 In a 6 cylinder engine ducts (30), Fig.5 (not shown) join a duct (32) leading to one or more silencers (15).
