Abstract

1352321 Spirit duplicating carbon papers IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [5 March 1970] 10682/70 Heading D2B [Also in Division C4] Spirit duplicating carbon papers are obtained by mixing a leucauramine compound of the formula: where R, R’, R», R»‘, are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl aralkyl or aryl radicals or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon chain attached to the adjacent ring A or B in an ortho position relative to the N or R and R’ and R» and R»‘ are joined together to form an optionally substituted hydrocarbon chain which may be interrupted by -O- or -NCH 3 – and which together with the attached N constitutes a heterocyclic ring; X is H, optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl aralkyl or aryl or an alkylene chain containing 2 or 3 C atoms which is directly attached to a C atom in an ortho position of ring C relative to the -NX- group; R 1 , R 2 and R 3 each independently represents an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl radical or at least 2 of R 1 R 2 and R 3 are joined or fused together to form with the N a heterocyclic ring or rings wherein the N is linked to carbon atoms present in the heterocyclic ring through either single bonds or through a single bond and a double bond, Z- is an anion; with carnauba wax and mineral oil. This coating is then applied to a polyester film and may be used in a spirit duplicating machine using ethanol and tannic acid.
