Abstract
1352486 Feeding and finishing yarns EI DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 25 July 1972 [27 July 1971] 34817/72 Heading D1F In a jet device 10 for treating yarn 20 of synthetic filaments with hot gas or steam in order to advance, heat, relax, and thereby develop crimp spontaneously in, the filaments, the yarn passes through a passage 21 of rectangular cross-section and comprising successively tapered and straight lengths 17 and 19, a converging throat region 28 and an expanding treatment chamber 30 terminating at a diffuser 32 which includes successive parallelsided portions 34, 36, 38, 40, 42 each wider and deeper than the preceding portion. An internal manifold 22 supplies pressure fluid from source (not shown) to conduits 24, 26, of rectangular cross-section and constant depth including successive converging and parallel lengths 23, 25, and 27, 29, communicating with passage 21. A raised tapered land 15 extends from length 19 to slightly downstream of the minimum area section 31 of throat region 28. A multistation device, Fig. 3 (not shown) has outer fluid manifolds which have approximately one half of the cross-sectional area of inner such sections each of which supply two fluid conduits.
