Abstract
1363100 Voltage monitoring system BENDIX CORP 20 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 59098/71 Heading G1U In an automatic voltage monitoring system, a set of pairs of voltages E1, E2; E4, E5; E6, E7; E8, E9; the voltages of each pair of which should be of equal magnitude but opposite polarity, are sequentially monitored by sequentially opening FET gates 8, 12, 14, 16 under the control of a counter 18 and a decoder 26, 28, 30, 32, the counter being continuously stepped by clock pulses 9 until a fault is detected, whereupon the supply of clock pulses is interrupted and a failure indicator 31 is actuated. The system also includes the feature that if a failure is detected when voltages E1, E2 are examined, thereby stopping the supply of clock pulses 9 to the counter, then an EX-OR gate 50 also detects the absence of the clock pulses, and causes, via a flip-flop 42, which is normally set to Q=O, and associated gates 44, 46, 48, the closing of FET gate 8 and the opening of an FET gate 10, so that a voltage E3 is examined instead of the pair of voltages E1, E2. If voltage E3 is satisfactory, the supply of clock pulses to the counter 18 is restored and cyclic monitoring continues. If, alternately, voltage E3 is not satisfactory, clock pulses are not restored and the system remains stationary with an output on gate 26, and a failure indication. Thus, if no fault exists at all, FET gates 8, 12, 14, 16, are selected continuously and cyclically, but if a fault is found with voltages E1, E2 then before a complete cessation of activity FET gate 10 is opened to monitor voltage E3, and only if voltage E3 is unsatisfactory is the failure indication maintained, otherwise cyclic monitoring recommences.
