1363455 Nitriles DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 6 Aug 1971 [8 Aug 1970] 37109/71 Heading C2C o-Phthalic acid dinitrile with o-tolunitrile, benzonitrile and nicotinic acid nitrile are produced from o-xylene, toluene and #-picoline respectively by gas, phase treatment with ammonia and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst consisting of compounds of the elements antimony, vanadium and oxygen and one or more of the elements iron, copper, titanium, cobalt, manganese and nickel which have been treated at 600-1100‹ C. with oxygen gas. The atomic ratio of antimony to vanadium is between 1À1: 1 and 50 : 1.
