Abstract
1367912 Beds and frames LICENTIA PATENT – VERWALTUNGS – GmbH 26 Aug 1971 [29 Aug 1970] 40188/71 Heading B3B [Also in Division G1] A numerically controlled co-ordinate machine having an operating tool 15, i.e. a machine tool or a drawing machine, comprises a first carriage 6 resting on a base 5 and movable in one coordinate direction and a second carriage 11 movable perpendicularly to this direction and resting on a portal base 9, is characterized by a self contained module construction wherein; at least two co-ordinate modules 1, 2 are provided each consisting of a base 5, 9 incorporating drive and carriage guides for the said first and second carriages 6, 11; and a support module 3 for supporting the co-ordinate modules 1, 2 by means of a three point support with the base of one of the modules, i.e. the base 5. A casing module 4 surrounds the support module 3 and houses the necessary electronic elements 13 for numerical control of the machine. The drives in the bases 5, 9 include ball nut and lead screw drives with position control generators 12. The support modules 3 is in the form of a T-frame having ball supports to provide a three point support for the base 5. The casing module 4 includes pivotable panels to which banks of the electronic elements 13 are attached for ease of servicing (Fig. 5, not shown). The trailing cable to the tool 15 is passed over a pulley (Fig. 6, not shown) and a weight keeps it taught. A control desk module (57) (Fig. 7, not shown) may be provided, either in the base 5, or remote from the machine.
