Abstract
1371073 Tool handles POPEIL BROS Inc 6 Sept 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 41392/72 Heading B4K [Also in Division F2] A sectional handle comprises at least two tubular sections 12, 14 and a connector member 18 of C-shaped cross-section one end of the connector member being insertable within one of the tubular sections to permit slidable mounting of t e other tubular section over the outer exposed end of the connector 18. A collar member 20 of plastics material is slid along the outer exposed end of the connector 18 before the other tubular section is mounted thereon and provides a cleaning, smoothing and lubricating action to the surface of the outer end’ of the connector 18 which ensures that the said other section is dismounted from the connector rather than the tubular section in which the connector is first inserted. The tubes 12, 14 are preferably of elliptical section, and may be of aluminium with a roll formed lapped seam 30 or alternatively with a welded seam. The connector member is of spring steel. The outer surface of the tubes is preferably formed with grooved striations which provided added strength and facilitate hand grip. An end plug (Fig. 9, not shown) is provided for insertion in the free end of the tubular sections. The handle may be used with mops, squeegees, paint rollers, carpet sweepers, brooms, dusters &c. or for the attachment of a sawblade.
