1371242 Seaming non-metallic sheet materials A T RANSON (A M HERZIG) 21 Sept 1971 43853/71 Headings B5K and B5D [Also in Division B8] Neck seams 14, 16 for a container 9 may be formed by placing lay-flat tubing or laminated sheets between an upper heated die 134 and a sheet of release paper 131 placed on a lower die. The upper die 134 comprises heat sealing elements 112, 114, 116 mounted flush with adjacent dielectric areas 136, 138, 140, 141 to produce a flat surface for contacting the container (Figs. 5, 6). The dies may be mounted to the platens of a press. Polythene, polypropylene or semirigid polyvinyl chloride may be sealed.
