Abstract

1371272 Mounting of fluid- or hand-operated electrical brake controller KELSEY-HAYES CO 27 April 1972 [1 June 1971] 9667/74 Divided out of 1371271 Heading F2E [Also in Division H1] The description and drawings are the same as those accompanying the parent Specification 1,371,271, but the invention is concerned with a different aspect, set forth in detail below. For Fig. 1, see the Abridgment of the parent Specification 1,371,271; Fig. 2 is reproduced herewith. An electric brake controller for controlling the magnitude of current to electrically-actuated brakes for a vehicle comprises resistor means including a control winding 18 wound about a longitudinally-extending dielectric core member 16, conductor means comprising a flexible conductor 76 supported on the dielectric core member 16, actuating means 112, 124 operatively connected with the conductor means for moving the conductor into engagement with the control winding 18, a box-like housing 17 and a cover 19, first means on the core member 16 (e.g. extensions 130, 132) and on the housing 17 (e.g. slots 134, 136) for slidably supporting the core member in the housing, and second means (e.g. projection 144) on the cover 19 for clamping the core member in the housing when the cover is applied. As shown, projection 144 on cover 19 serves also to secure in place the conductors 40, 60 and 68 and provide for them a strain relief connection. The other end of the inner face of the cover simply closes slot 136. The lever arm assembly 98 includes a pivot member 100 which has a pair of oppositely-extending pin portions 102 which are journalled in aligned bosses 104, 106, Fig. 2, located in housing 17 and cover 19, respectively. The piston assembly 10 is held from axial movement by cylinder bosses 140, 142, Fig. 1, and located in a hemi-cylindrical slot 138 in housing 17; a hemi-cylindrical slot portion 146 in cover 19 co-operates with slot 138 to hold piston assembly 10 in place, Fig. 2.
