Abstract
1374736 Steam turbine control valves CARRIER CORP 4 May 1973 [5 June 1972] 21403/73 Heading F1T The invention relates to a fluid admission valve assembly for an elastic fluid turbine. The turbine shown comprises a casing 10 having an inlet valve chest 12 secured thereto, the casing being formed with four steam inlet passages 14, 15, 16, 17, in each of which is disposed a valve seat member 20, a valve member 53 co-operating with each valve seat. The valves are disposed in a linear series. The valve members are mounted on a lifting bar 40 which comprises two parts 41, 43, the part 41 being formed with six rectangular section grooves 50 in four of which the correspondingly-shaped stems 54 of the valve members 53 are disposed; the valve members are also formed with heads 57. The part 41 is formed with a rib portion 67 which upon assembly engages within a recess 68, 69 formed in the part 43, the parts being secured together by screws 44. The length of the stems 54 varies so as to allow differential opening of the valves. A pair of lifting rods 27 are also secured in two of the grooves 50 of the lifting bar, each rod having a circular portion 63 which is received in the groove 50, and two spaced portions 60, 61 which engage the lower and upper surfaces of the lifting bar. The lifting rods extend through sleeves 26 supported in the valve chest 12 and are pivotally connected at their upper ends to links 35 which in turn are pivotally connected to levers 31 pivotally mounted at 32 on brackets 33, 34 the other ends of the levers being connected through a link 77 to an actuating device 80.
