Abstract
1375564 Spot-type disc brakes GIRLING Ltd 10 March 1972 [27 March 1971] 8004/71 Heading F2E A disc brake comprises a caliper member 8 guided for movement in a stationary drag taking member 1, the members 8, 1 being maintained in engagement with one another by a resilient means, e.g. a spring 29, which acts on a lever 21 at one of a pair of relatively spaced locations 27, 28, the lever 21 which is mounted on one of the members being so biased by the resilient means as to be pivoted into engagement with one of a pair of abutments on the other of. the members depending upon which location the resilient means acts upon. In the construction two levers 21 are provided one at each side of the caliper member 8. Each lever has two mutually perpendicular abutment surfaces for engagement alternatively with a respective one of a pair of mutually perpendicular surfaces 25, 26 on the caliper member 8. Each lever 21 is formed of a double thickness of the material and one of the abutment surfaces is formed by a pair of lugs bent out of the main plane of the lever (Fig. 4, not shown). Each lever is mounted on a bolt screwed into the stationary member 1 (Fig. 2, not shown).
