Abstract
1381234 Printed circuit board connector FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 26 Jan 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 4073/73 Heading H2E An electrical terminal integrally formed from a single metal strip comprises a bottom wall 12, from which side wall portions 14, 16 extend bearing at the top top wall portions 20 and 26 of equal area and notched to form an opening in the top surface and bearing top surface parts 38 and 44, and from the front edge of which extends an element 52 comprising in order arcuate spring member 53 with surface portion 54 stressed against rear edge of 38, 44, and lead portion 56, a weakened section 58, contact surface 60, sloping downwards to the rear, spring member 62 and foot 64 touching bottom wall 12, from the rear edge of which lead gripping means 72 extends. Top wall portions 20 and 26 are notched to provide openings 30, 34 out of which lead portion 56 extends and 32, 36 through which member 62 re-enters, stop 50 being provided on the intervening surface. The slope of 60 is not more than 3 degrees. Portions 22 and 28 form guides for terminal insertion. Spring member 62 tapers towards the foot 64. Member 63 extends to point 66 where it is tangential to imaginary horizontal plane 68. Critical placement of 58 at 66 causes flat contact of 6 with circuit board and thus parallel circuit paths through 53 and 62. Opening 70 is to accommodate a locking finger which may be as U.S.A. Specification 3,601,760.
